Government Polytechnic, Vyara was established in 2013 with the aim of providing quality technical education to students from the rural and tribal regions of Tapi district and surrounding areas. The institute was set up to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in engineering and technical fields, ensuring that students from rural backgrounds have access to state-of-the-art education and training.

The institute initially offered three core departments—Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. This marked the beginning of G.P. Vyara's journey towards providing a comprehensive and industry-relevant curriculum.

In 2020, the institute expanded its offerings by introducing the Instrumentation and Control Engineering department, also with an intake capacity of 60 students. The Mechanical Engineering department currently accommodates 30 students, while the other departments maintain an intake of 60 students each.

Government Polytechnic, Vyara has grown steadily, with a focus on outcome-based education, skill development, and experiential learning. The institute continues to play a key role in empowering students from rural and tribal areas with the skills necessary to meet modern industry demands, while also contributing to community development through various educational initiatives.

Government Polytechnic, Vyara is a recognized technical institute operating under the Commissionerate of Technical Education (CTE), Government of Gujarat. The institute is:

  (Approval ensures that the institute meets national standards for technical education.)

  Gujarat Technological University (GTU), Ahmedabad
  (All academic activities such as curriculum, examination, and certification are governed by GTU.)
  
  

The institute follows the guidelines laid down by AICTE and GTU to ensure high-quality education, skill development and industry readiness among its diploma students.
